Professional DTF Artwork Preparation

DTF printing depends on how the file is set up before it goes into production. Files that are not prepared correctly can lead to blurry details, rough edges, visible outlines, or prints that feel heavier than they should.

Proper DTF artwork preparation focuses on getting the file set up the right way from the start. Instead of fixing problems after printing, the work is done directly on the artwork, so it performs the way it’s supposed to. The file is adjusted so details stay clean, edges hold up, and the design transfers consistently onto the garment without breaking down. This ensures the print comes out the way it’s expected, without unexpected issues during production.

Small inconsistencies in a file can quickly become visible once printed, especially with detailed designs or large solid areas. Preparing the file correctly from the beginning helps avoid those problems and keeps the result consistent.

What’s Included in the Process

Each file is reviewed and adjusted based on what it needs for DTF printing. This includes cleaning up artwork, improving resolution, refining file quality where needed, and correcting transparency issues that affect how the design prints.

Unwanted pixels, rough edges, and background problems are removed so the design transfers cleanly. Areas that can cause visible outlines or print defects are corrected before the file reaches production.

When needed, DTF halftoning is applied to break up solid areas and control ink coverage, improving both the look and feel of the final print. This helps reduce heavy prints and creates a more balanced result on the garment.

The file is structured so it works properly once it goes into production, not just on screen. Elements are set up to transfer cleanly, without hidden issues that could affect the final result.

How the Work Is Done

Each file is handled individually based on its specific issues. The work is done manually, without relying on automated tools or presets, so adjustments are made with the final print in mind.

Instead of applying generic fixes, the focus is on understanding how the file will behave in production. This allows for more precise corrections and avoids problems that automated processes often miss.

Particular attention is given to consistency across the entire design, especially in areas where small imperfections can become visible once printed. This ensures the result holds up under real production conditions.

The goal is to prepare the file in a way that it runs smoothly from the moment it enters production, without requiring additional corrections or rework later on.

What You Get

The final file is clean, consistent, and ready to be used for DTF printing. Details hold up, edges stay sharp, and the design transfers the way it should. The file doesn’t need extra cleanup or adjustments before use, which helps save time and reduces the chance of failed prints.

With proper DTF artwork preparation, the result is a file that performs the right way when it matters, not just one that looks better on screen.

Important Information

LPI Halftoning: Our Standard LPI for halftoning/linetoning is set to 35LPI (35 dots per inch). Please specify if you want a different LPI. Higher LPI will create smaller halftones but also increase the chance of underbase peeking out especially if your printer is not setup for fine halftones.

Loss of Detail: When applying halftone, linetone, increasing resolution, or other print-preparation effects, some details may be reduced, lost, or simplified to ensure proper printability.

Multiple Images: Files that contain multiple images will be charged per image. If you have several designs, you need to fill out the form for each design. Failing to do so will result in us sending you an invoice for the correct amount or a refund of your order.

Revisions: We will do 1 revision per design. Failing to give us correct information up front may result in completely redoing the artwork which may result in an additional fee. You will have 14 days after you receive your design to request a revision.

Color Accuracy: Colors may change slightly due to the halftoning process. To get the most accurate colors if you need specific colors, you need to get a printed color chart from your printer and choose the closest color codes and provide those to us before ordering.

Quality & Resolution: We optimize every file to achieve the best possible print results. However, or poor-quality source files may limit the final output quality.

If your artwork requires significant rebuilding, upscaling, redrawing, or vectorizing to reach proper print standards, additional fees may apply. We will always contact you by email before proceeding with any additional charges and provide an invoice for approval.

You may choose to cancel the order if you do not wish to proceed with the additional work.

Refund Policy: Once work has started, we do not provide any refunds. If work has not started, we can refund upon request.

Sizing: Final designs may be slightly off from the requested dimensions. A margin of approximately 0.25 inches may be included around the design.
